We all want flawless skin, but let’s be honest it’s not just about what we want. Gorgeous skin takes time and effort. It can also be incredibly expensive. Sure, every once in a while it’s nice to pamper ourselves with a visit to the spa for a facial, but who can do that every week?
Well, there’s good news. You don’t need an extensive professional spa treatment every week to have glowing skin. Instead, you can simply pick up a few ingredients at your local grocery store to make a natural face mask at home.
Homemade face masks not only save you money, but they’re simple to make and a great way to take care of your skin naturally. We’ve compiled a few of favourite face masks that work for every skin type and can help you with a variety of issues from dry skin to fine lines, and acne. Dull Skin
If you suffer from dry and dull skin, then you’ll want to make a face mask with papaya. Simply puree the meat of a papaya and combine it with plain yoghurt or milk. Apply to your face and let it sit for at least ten minutes. Then, rinse off for glowing skin. Dead Skin
Sometimes you just need to scrub off your old, dead skin cells to reveal the beauty underneath. When that’s the case, we recommend our avocado and oatmeal face mask. All you need are:
- 1 tablespoon of oats
- 1 tablespoon of mashed avocado
Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl until the texture is consistent. Then, apply to mask for 10-15 minutes and wash off my scrubbing in a circular motion. Tired Skin
If you want skin that’s smooth and well nourished, then a chocolate face mask is your best bet. Cocoa contains many strong antioxidants that can help to reverse signs of aging and help tighten your skin. And it’s simple to make.
- For dry skin, mix cocoa powder, honey, oatmeal, and cream.
- For oily skin, mix cocoa powder, honey, besan, and curd.
Mix all ingredients in a blender until it forms a thick, brown homogeneous batter. Wait five minutes and then apply. Allow the face mask to dry for fifteen to twenty minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Dry Skin
If you have extra dry skin that lotion doesn’t seem to help, then our banana face mask is perfect for you. Ingredients:
- Mash 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon of raw honey
The key is to only apply it or ten minutes before rinsing. You’ll be amazing at how soft and supple your skin will feel. Acne-Prone Skin
Acne is always a problem when it occurs, but that’s why we love our lemon, honey, and egg white face mask. This mask is full of protein, potassium, magnesium, and riboflavin, all key ingredients to help repair acne-damaged skin and to promote healthy skin cells. The recipe requires:
- 1 egg white
- ½ a small lemon
- and ½ teaspoon honey.
Whip the ingredients together until it reaches a fluffy consistency and then apply. Puffy Face
If you have nasty eye bags, swelling or puffiness then try our cucumber face mask. It will nourish your skin without making it feel greasy. Mix together:
- 3 ounces finely sliced cucumber
- 3 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons yoghurt
Once the mixture turns into a paste, put it on your face and let it dry for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with cold water for soft, clean, and pampered skin.
